How To Bypass Windows 2000 Administrator Login word ?

If you have multiple users on a single computer, placing a password on your account might be a good idea so that you can protect your documents and prevent data theft. But there are some rare cases when you forget your password, or the password expires and you find yourself locked out of your account. The following are steps on how to bypass your Windows 2000 password and log in to your account.

Step 1. Restart your system.

When you turn on your computer and find yourself staring at the log on screen, try to input the password you know you have. If the password does not work, immediately reboot your computer.

Step 2. Navigate to “Windows Advanced Options Menu”.

When your computer boots up, immediately press the “F8” key on your keyboard before the Windows 2000 logo loads up. This will take you to a page where it lists different ways for you to log into the operating system. Use the arrow keys to highlight the option “Safe Mode with Command Prompt”. When this option is highlighted, press the “Enter” key on your keyboard and wait for Windows 2000’s command prompt to load up.

Step 3. Input necessary commands to disable the current password and create a new password for your account.

Do the following steps to disable and create a new password.

On the command prompt, input “net user” and then press “Enter” on your keyboard. This command will list the users available on this specific machine.
Locate the account we need to work on. For example, your username is “guest123”. You will need to input the following command on the prompt: “net user guest123 *” and then press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.
This will populate the following command: “Type a password for the user:”
Type in the new password you would like to have and hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard. Doing this will erase the previous password you have for that account.
A new command will show up saying, “Retype the password to confirm:”. Type in the new password you inputted earlier and then press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.
When you are successful in creating the new password, the following message will show up on the command prompt: “The command completed successfully.”

Step 4. Restart your system.

Still on the command prompt, type “shutdown -r -t 01” and then press the “Enter” key on your keyboard. This command will restart Windows 2000.

When you get to the Windows log on screen, select your account and input the new password. You should now be able to log on to your account without any problems.
